attend. We will cover region specific rules for the fall as well as a Q&A about
anything you may need to know. This is being held at Asbury in Room 213/215
in the Hope Building
Basic (Regional) Referee Courses: All Basic courses will be held at Asbury Church. There will be three courses
offered for this fall. You must be at least 12 years old to attend the course.

get enough students to hold the class. Thank you to those who were interested in
attending the class. The next opportunity to take the course will be at the
Winter Super Camp in January.
If
you are a new referee you must take the online Safe Haven Course. If you have
coached before and have taken the Safe Haven for coaches then you need not to
take the Referee Safe Haven. You can take the Safe Haven online test at this
website: www.aysotraining.org . Please
note that you must have your volunteer ID number to take this course. You cannot
get this ID number until you turn in a volunteer form.
Volunteer Forms: If you plan to
volunteer with AYSO in any type of position, such as a coach, referee, team
parent, board member, you must submit a volunteer form each year. You only have
to submit one once a year and this is typically done prior to the fall season.
This can be done at www.eayso.org
AYSO
SAFE HAVEN JOB DESCRIPTIONS
AYSO
protects it's players and volunteers through the Safe Haven program. As
with your regular job, AYSO volunteers can serve
best if they understand their role/job description. If you are
volunteering as a referee, please review the
referee's job description
from AYSO
National web site. See the list of
all AYSO job descriptions.
AYSO games usually require 3 referees for each game. Our referees are volunteers provided with free training. Even if you don't understand the game of soccer, take the ref training class; you will learn everything you need to know about soccer. Without a referee, you just can't play soccer. Often last year, several
games were nearly cancelled the night before because there were not enough referees to help. Our kids put everything they've got into their game -- it's not fair to them when they show up to play soccer and the referees are nowhere to be seen. Region 498 encourages volunteers to be a referee through the ref points system. Did you know that players U12 and up can referee? They also earn double ref points for each game they help with. Training is an easy 2 half-day program
and it's a lot of fun! As an added bonus we will supply you with a Referee uniform, flags, and a Referee badge.
