The
AYSO National Referee Program is designed to
increase the level of proficiency of each individual referee at a pace
consistent with the individual’s capabilities and desires. Each level of referee
is intended to be representative of the officiating skills needed at a specific
level of play within AYSO. These officiating skills
vary according to the age and skill level of the players involved. These skills
range in complexity from our beginning 5 year olds to the more advanced play
common to our U19 teams.
The philosophy of the AYSO Referee Certification
and Training Program involves:
- Protecting referees through the AYSO Safe Haven
Referee Certification
- Helping referees to improve the officiating skills
- Assisting referees to advance in level
- Providing support and encouragement
- Establishing high, realistic achievement standards
- Providing challenges commensurate with ability and experience
- Providing consistent program implementation
